Who Is Michael
Thirty-six years at the table.
Michael Walter spent 36 years as a senior partner at Herbert Smith Freehills, one of the world’s leading international law firms. He served as Global Head of the Corporate Division from 2005 to 2010 and as Managing Partner for Southeast Asia from 2012 to 2015, overseeing the firm’s most consequential regional engagements.
His practice centred on complex cross-border M&A, equity and debt capital markets, corporate governance, and regulatory counsel across the financial, technology, mining, and telecoms sectors. Deals he has advised on span the UK, Australia, Southeast Asia, India, and Africa.
Today, through his Singapore-based consultancy, Michael provides strategic advisory, non-executive director counsel, and governance expertise to chairmen, CEOs, and senior boards navigating high-stakes decisions across Asia-Pacific and beyond.
